Annastiina Hyttinen is a self-taught artist and photographer based in Joensuu, Finland. Her work combines a love of colour and playfulness with a sensitivity inspired by nature. Alongside painting, she works with photography, capturing the small, fleeting moments found in the Finnish landscape.
Hyttinen’s acrylic paintings are characterised by expressive animal characters, bold brushstrokes and a vibrant use of colour. Her animals often take on human-like qualities and find themselves in slightly unexpected situations. Humour and a sense of joy are balanced with light, atmosphere and beauty throughout her work. Rather than taking art too seriously, Hyttinen aims to create pieces that evoke emotion, stay with the viewer and bring a little joy into their surroundings.
Nature offers a quieter counterpoint to the playful character of her paintings. Through her photography, Hyttinen pauses to notice light, plants and quiet moments — the small details that can so easily go unnoticed in everyday life.
